Little Green Hand

As much as I know this is a picture of a claret cup, I keep focusing on the green center. It looks like little alien fingers reaching out of the cup. If only I would have had this ready to post on Halloween...
All C&C welcome!
Thanks for looking!

Very nice image. I like the comp. and the color is great. The DOF is good because it lets you see just enough of the cactus to give the image context.

Nice color contrast. The red and green and then the muted background colors. Well done.

Great dof decision Anne. I've tried to shoot these several times both in the field and at the Denver Botanical Gardens and never got an image of one I liked this well. I have a lot of trouble shooting cacti in general. My only reservation in this is that the bloom is facing the closest side of the frame rather than the farthest. This makes it seem a little cramped to me. I started photography here a few years ago shooting avian and I stiil tend to think of single blooms like birds - so this is a pretty subjective nit I'm picking. (smile) It's a very fine image as posted.

Love your choice of dof here, Anne, and the placing of the flower down to the lower R. The spikes seem to give the flower a halo - a lovely effect.

Anne:
Like your choice of DOF here. Just enough to isolate the center of the flowers and still show the outlines of cactus in the bg. Nicely done.

I like the difference between the flower and the spines in the BG Anne. Nice use of DOF. I think I prefer this cropped to a square or near square.
