Along the South Fork II

Here is a second image from a nice little spot I found while exploring Bishop Creek Canyon in early October. This image was taken a few feet back from the first image here. I like the first one a bit better but I think this one has merit as well. Curious what you all may think.

Large image is included as well. Please take a look. Thanks for looking and/or commenting.

Both photos are very nice Mike. I prefer the first one because I like how the yellow leaves frame the creek on both sides. I feel the composition is stronger in that first image.

I love this shot, but there's nothing particularly appealing about the extreme left side, I could see shaving some of it off.

If I were to choose between the two images I like the first for the emphasis on the creek and how it leads you to the back of the image. Trees are much closer also. Nice work Mike.

Do not like the pile of branches on teh left side, really detracts from an otherwise good scene.

I like them both, but I think I prefer the other version. That particular comp has a more balanced feel to it, with the foreground rock and the more prevalent whitewater areas in the creek. Also, the clump of dead branches in this version isn't quite as photogenic. I really like the shutter speed you chose and the lighting is nice, and your sharpening method looks great.

Well done image. Even though the pile of dead branches on the left seem to stop my eye a bit I really like them there. The sharp detail of them serve as a good contrast to the smooth flowing water.
What does bother me a bit are the branches sticking into the frame just above the water on the left.
Comp and techs are great.

This is gorgeous and, for me, at least the equal of your first shot. The dead branches don't particularly bother me. The water and color make them easy to ignore anyway.

Very indicative of what I'd expect to see along Bishop Creek in October. I really enjoy the right 2/3 of this image and might prefer a 4x5 ratio with a crop off the left side. The colors and exposure look spot on to me. Nice work!

Yes, the 1st is better: better comp and much better looking water as it looks like you used a longer shutter speed on the 1st. I think this one would look good with left side cropped for a square image.

Just like I remember it from that weekend, Mike. Colors are beautiful, and so is the comp. I kind of agree about the crop, but think I might leave it as is. That's how it looks out there!
