Brown-headed Cowbird, female this time.
Used the Kenko 2x extender again - Same tree, different branch :)
F/6.3, 1/250th, ISO 500, Canon 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 around 3:00pm.
Shot three days prior to the male posting here, overcast skies..
Full frame.

Very nice - I prefer this to the similar shot of the male; probably due to the softer light and reduced ranch of tones.

Lovely detail, color and pose, Howard. The frame might be a little tight around the bird.

I realize it's tight of course. Sometimes the fixed focal length is just what it is.
Just think of it as a bird macro

Howard,

I know that brown-headed cowbirds are not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy their subtle tones and the interesting plumage patterns of the females especially. Nice light, pose and head angle. A touch more space all around might have been nice too.
