Sentinel Glow

On the final evening of the workshop we witnessed an amazing display of alpine glow across the Range of Light as seen from the top of Sentinel Dome. I am sure this scene is iconic, but it was so exciting to see this and capture it. To my amazement, those on the workshop were putting away their cameras just as the glow as peaking. I urged them to keep photographing as the light show was just beginning.

This was taken digitally as 6 frames and stitched together in PS. I had run out of 4x5 film by this point and am quite disappointed to not have captured this on 4x5.

Enjoy.

Really beautiful light Youssef. You picked up some nice color in the sky to. this would be lovely to see large I'm sure. Was it possible to include more of the base of the foreground trees or were there to many distractions in foreground? Beauty of a pan.

The light is simply mesmerizing, especially in the fg trees. The pano does wonders in showing the beautiful moment you experienced.

Gorgeous scene and the earth shadow makes it even better. Good timing of the shot.

Youssef,

This is fantastic! Ya know, Sentinel Dome is a pretty popular location in a park wildly famous and I'm sure there are gazillions of images taken from this location. But I have to say I've never seen this viewpoint and I think this is refreshing. Kudos to you for this rendition. And the conditions and colors couldn't be more beautiful. Great work!

Beautiful pano Youssef, gorgeous. Only nit is that small spot of what looks like rock and a dead tree in the LLC. :toast:

Beautiful scene Youssef. Yosemite is such a magical place. I could get never tired of it. Glad you kept your camera ready and instructed your group to do the same. This image is proof that mother nature keeps on giving even after the sun has gone down.

The beautiful soft light and details come through nicely in the larger version. What a view! It does have a CC feel to it looking at the Earth's shadow as a reference, but everything else looks plumb. Nice stitch work!

Incredible pano, Youssef. The color and detail is amazing, but the light is stunning.

I like the comp and the light. The only nit would be that there is very little separation in tones from Half Dome to the peaks behind it, if you could make Half Dome more contrasty then it might stick out a little more.
