This wet cormorant swam into the sunshine along a dark canal where I had been looking for white egrets.

I really like the light spot on head and neck contrasting the dark BG . If Rembrandt would have been a painter of cormorants , this was about the result.

I like it a lot. The centered comp doesn't bother me; there is nothing to distract the eye from the subject! The reflection and the vague outline of the cormorant's body serve as leading lines. I looked at this and my eye stopped on the head and neck of the cormorant and stayed there.
