Beautiful shot Sandy. Your composition of the bird within the frame is just perfect and I love the standout red around the eye against the beautiful golds and beiges in the rest of the image. I had no idea the Sacramento NWR was such a great place for photography. I'm going to have to get there one of these days.

Great image all around. Love that evening glow. Nice and sharp. Pleasing OOF background. I notice you used spot metering. I'm getting better exposures with spot metering on my Nikon that in matrix when shooting birds. Did you deliberately choose spot on this photo, or for this shoot..and why?

I believe this is one of your best images and it has become my favorite of yours. I love Sandhills too and this one is beautiful! Very, very appealing image, great natural colors, wing position, light... I have NO issues at all with this!
