Southerndown sunset + repost

Taken at Southerndown on the Heritage Coast in South Wales.

Some parts of the beach are pretty barren at certain states of the tide so you have to look around for some interesting foreground.

I knew that the eye is drawn to the brightest part of an image so I used the natural curve in the rocks to lead it there more slowly, well, that was the theory anyway

You certainly found a great foreground here, Geoffrey. The curve to the dominant rock works really well. Clouds seem a bit dark, but it adds to the foreboding atmosphere in this scene.

What a great foreground. I wander if cropping off some of the top would put more emphasis on it.

Great and unique foreground, I agree with Tony-clouds a bit dark(not too much) considering the foreground light. There is enough negative space around the subject to allow for many framing options.

Geoffrey, I looked at both versions and I would have to say I like the original with the darker clouds. In reality, I'd buy either one. Great shot.

Geoffrey,
The soft light and simplicity in comp is very pleasing. I really like the distant sunstar too. It nicely completes the scene.

Exquisite composition, Geoffrey. The arc of the rocks guiding the eye back is excellent. Love the tones in the sand and rock as well. Excellent work.
