The day dawned completely overcast so I went for a bit of a hike to a location that I had scouted out on google earth. The sky cleared-up as I reached my goal and lit-up the peaks of the Cheam Mountain range.
Xsi,10-22@19mm,f11@1/30&1/180,ISO100 images combined for dynamic range and depth-of-focus.Comments and suggestions always appreciated.

Yeah, a heck of a view at that. The thumb didin't even come close to preparing me for this.
Beautiful.

Stunning view Dean! I like your chosen comp especially and crisp detail. Would love to see a larger view.

Scouting on Google Earth. Everything is digital nowadays. Scouting went very well. You got a very nice image from this. Did GE show you the snow

Breath taking view in this image. No nits in this one, I can almost feel the crisp mountain air.

Hahha, guess I'm not the only one to use google earth for this kind of stuff. When it works, it works! Beautiful view Dean.

The patch of bare ground with a few leaves shows the transition of seasons well. As for GE, it's definitely a great scouting tool.

I use Google Earth quite a bit to find nice places too - sometimes it really works. Great shot, Dean. Love the light up there and the natural feeling that this one has got. My room temperature just dropped by a few degrees.

Man, this makes this Florida boy want to go play in the snow. A well thought out composition and the light on the peaks is just the cherry on top. Very nice Dean.

Dean,

Wow, I definitely get the feeling that one shouldn't walk too far down this little stream....
A grand view indeed. Almost wish there was more view and less stream, but as in my first comment, there's something here that really brings the viewer right to the scene. The snow dusted mountains, light and sky are just beautiful. Nice job with this capture, colors are spot on.

Great view Dean! I'm not sure how I feel about the stream here. For me it was hard to tell there was water flowing in the first place - I had to look closer to see that detail. I might suggest a square crop on the top portion of the image. Those trees frame this range so well.

Thanks for the comments. It's amazing how a blanket of snow changes a scene. I believe this is a cross ditch on a de-activated logging road that I'm sure will be frozen over in a couple of weeks.I'll post a different comp without a stream.Cheers.

Beautiful capture, Dean! How did we ever survive without GE? Your blend looks excellent here...was it HDR or by hand?
Congrats! :toast:

Hey Cory, thanks for the compliment. Hand blended. I've tried using programs but due to my lack of skill, desire and knowledge I just can't seem to get them to work right. I think this is blended from 2 photos of the mountain line for dynamic range and focus, and 1 for the FG exposure and focus. :toast:
