It's not all in the valley! The color that is. This is at the higher elevations above tunnel view along the road to Wawona. A burned out area a couple of years ago, now all regrown with dogwoods. I thought it looked like a paintball field of the gods! I hope you enjoy it and thank you for your thoughts. Larger version included as well.

D3X, 14-24mm(just kidding)

Thanks,
Chris

Wonderful color feast for the eyes Chris but what I really like are the trucks which add some varity to the scene. Beautiful work!

Dang Chris this is just full of color. Its nice to see such lush greens mixed in with the fall colors. THe top half triangle works well with the trunks and bottom half with the sloping patch.

Nice work man

I have also found that previously burned areas lead to a plethora of condensed color after a few years. This is beautiful Chris. I like the diagonal lines intersected by the vertical trunks too. Another very effective composition. Your photography has reached a new level of maturity - consistently superior images and super strong compositions, and you only seem to keep improving. IMO, you are currently among the top few individuals leading the charge here at NPN, leaving the rest of us mere mortals enviously chasing you.

Tremendous range of fall colors, beautifully captured. The large version is a treat. The tree trunks are a nice element.

Chris,

So that's what this looks like! See my image here as I waited for nearly an hour for the fog to clear.... :frown:

But now I know why you were so interested in returning there a couple of times. Wow, what a display of color! The old, burned trees really help tie all the color together. Just beautiful!

I thought this was the best year for color in Yosemite Valley I had ever seen and clearly the color extended way beyond the valley. What a grand year!

Chris,

I saw this area on the last day of my workshop but we were on our way up to Sentinel Dome and failed to stop for it. Now I am sorry we did not. This is really an amazing photo.

Bill,
WOW! Thanks so much for all your kind and supportive words. But you better stop, you're starting to make me blush! Your latest compliment is very generous. I don't know if I agree with it, but you being you, I'm inclined to take your word for it!

Thank so much to everyone else also for the kind words. I really appreciate it a lot! It's nice to have the support and the acceptance of my work in this way. I'm humbly grateful.

Lon,
That's funny, but too bad also. It was raining on me at the time of this capture. The fog waited for you I guess. I actually did do some bushwhacking, but in the end, this shot was from the road. Oh well, now we know to check it again next year!
