Zion Waves

It was great to run into fellow NPN photogs - Marc Adamus, Chris Moore, and Steve Sieren while in Zion. I'm sure I missed many more that were there, seems like we had half the Park to ourselves:).

This is an image of Zion's canyon walls, bathed in sunlight and reflected in the Virgin River.

Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS, ISO 320, f/16, 1/8 sec.

Very nice Justin. I like the shutter speed used here - semi frozen and semi fluid. I might consider boosting saturation somewhat to further bring out the reflected gold in the water.

That's a great shot. The simple effect of the waves in the water together with the color contrast makes for a wonderful abstract. Very nice, Justin.

Nice abstract that works well for me. Your processing brought out the nice texture of the water. I also like the pastel-ish colors.

Great water abstract; the colors are nice and I really like the glow of the chalky blues.

Well composed, beautiful even lighting and the softness really enhances the mood of this one. Beautiful.

Justin,

I love this kind of imagery that sometimes is overlooked in nature. the reflected color intermixed with the whitewater is just beautiful. The ss and the diagonal flow make for a very pleasing composition. Great eye and capture.

I like this a lot. I can appreciate the subtle intensity of the reflected light. Having said that, I might consider bumping it up some more. I like the color, just brighten it up a little in between the white water. Nice!

Zaynab - I took this between 12:50 - 1. After scouting the Virgin River, I found a set of rapids that worked for the type of image I hoped to create. On the opposite shore there was a a large cottonwood with yellow leaves and the orange canyon wall. At 12:50 the sun struck the tree and the reflections were at their peak. By 1pm, the sun hit the river and shooting came to an end.

Nice job here Justin. I think I shot this exact same location the other day!

It is a bit too muted for my taste. I would not be afraid to bring up more saturation (especially from the bottom up) but that is just me.
