Restless Giant

One from the Giants Causeway (N Ireland) earlier in the year. The sea was restless and sounded like a steam train as it worked its way in. The causeway was very slippery. I liked how the waves curled up against the causeway and how like a giants tail it disappears under the sea.

I love the causeway, I do think the foreground is a little too dark, I'd try to brighten that up a bit. Other than that I like it a lot, I do find myself wondering what this would look like in B&W, have you tried converting it?

I too would love to see this in B&W Ian. The bottom 1/3 needs to be a little less dark, but that is just my opinion. I really like how the rock form transports the viewer throught the scene.

I love it! Aside from t e dark bottom (a white border might help) everything is great here. If you have any more--might want to check out this weeks Weekly Challenge Gallery

That is such an amazing formation, isn't it. Would love to see it in person. I like the wave action around the rocks. Might make the causeway more of a standout by reducing the amount of sky above; the lower clouds sort of mimick the swirls in the waves.

Very nice scene. Love the subject and weather conditions you had here. I think the foreground is a little too dark, otherwise it's great!

Beautiful use of curved lines in the composition. I think it could benefit from brightening up the highlights a bit, keeping the deep shadows as they are.

Interesting shot and I agree with others that a B&W conversion might be very effective. I like it as is though . . . looks like a bit of dangerous spot to be!

Ian,

What fascinating geology! Excellent job of capturing the interaction of the ocean and waves against the "tail" as you have so appropriately described.

Other than some contrast/highlights adjustments as some have mentioned, you might consider as an alternative, a crop of some portion of the sky. The bottom half of the clouds are the most interesting anyway. Just a thought.

Wonderful comp to carry me into the scene. Could see trying to wring even more drama out of that sky.

This is a perfect candidate for monochrome conversion. You may want to brighten up the pathway. But great composition.
