Alive !!! + REPOST

This was taken long ago late one afternoon. I had wonderful California Poppies that were just beginning to shed their sepals. I thought the way the late afternoon sun shone through the sepals and petals was fascinating.

I used a 1.7TC with the 70-200mm lens. The ISO was 100; spot metering, manual exposure, and an f/stop of 40. I'm recalling that you have to do weird and wonderful things when the TC is added, and I'm sure I was experimenting.

This was cropped to about 70% of the original for composition.

Maybe with some luck, soon I'll find more California poppies to serve as subjects.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions as to what to do next time.

:wavey:

Carol

Fine detail Carol and I like the composition. Also the color palette and the backlighting. Again no suggestions. I like it as posted.

Carol: I like the backlight but think I would like a little fill or reflected light on the center details. I like the heavy pollen dusting. >=))>

Carol:
Nice backlighting here showing off the lines in the petals. A bit of reflect light will show the pollen grains better.

I associate California poppies with brilliant orange and a radiant glow. So, the color here looks pretty dull. However, I like the detail you achieved, which includes the piles of pollen.

Let there be light.

Thank you all for your comments. Did a quick evaluation of this CA poppy and you're right, it's not quite as alive as it could be. A dozen eyes and another go-round with Vineza 2 helped my own. Thank you.

I like the richer colors and pop your repost has. Excellent study of the interior of the poppy. Very well done!
