A whole lotta larch...

I felt a bit sorry for this larch, all covered in parasitic lichen, so I decided to bring its plight to the attention of the wider world. I hope it appreciates the gesture...

Lots of detail in this so best viewed large.

Julian,

This online forum does not do this tree justice, even in the larger version.

Love the subject matter - lichen covered larches are my favourite! The composition works quite nicely. The dominant branch running diagonally through the composition and the vertical trees in the bg on the left are what makes this work for me. I would say that this is not your strongest effort, but as mentioned enough interest and structure for my tastes.

I really love the composition, Julian, with that graceful arc of the larch branch in the foreground. Personally, I wish the background was in sharp focus as well though (that's just me) but realize that would have required an aperture close to f64 to pull off with the attendant issues of diffraction coming into play. Still, I really like this as presented with tremendous detail and color in the foreground.

A bit busy, but great textures, nice color and light as well.

yeah, tons of detail there. It's different, and i like it. I also like the background and colors. The shadows seem a little blue heavy.
