Soaking Wet Cheetahs

It is not always sunny in Kenya as this image shows. It poured down on several afternoons this year which represented another challenge photographically.

There was no way that I was going back to camp, even though the teaming rain looked set for the rest of the day. The Cheetahs were moving so I stayed to watch and record their behaviour, inching the ISO up as it got darker.

There are more images from this years Kenya trip HERE

C&C welcome.
Canon 1DMk4, 500mm, f4, 1/640, ISO1600.

Cheers

Cool shot Austin. I like that you hung in for the bad wrather shots.

Really like the rain coming down and the cheetah on the left shaking it's head really adds to the image!

The falling rain is an excellent touch! Nicely done.

Pretty cool shot Austin; the rain is making this image for me, both the falling rain and the shake. The right cheetah looks pregnant (another point of interest), which makes me assume the other must be her offspring(?). The Mk4 can easily handle ISO1600 in my experience so no problem there, but I cannot help wondering how this would have looked with a much slower SS, which would create rain streaks and a motion-blur head shake!

I am glad you didn't pack it in and call it a day. Some of the best shots can be made in the rain, as this shows. Like the others, I, too, like the head shake and the flying droplets, but feel the saturation is a tad too much. :toast:
