Blue-winged Leafbird

Leafbirds seem to always be a part of a Malaysian "Bird-wave" at about 1,250m ASL; from a week ago. A few species all appear at once and stay for just a few minutes feeding, and then it's all quiet again for quite a long while. It makes for exciting shooting!

1D MkIV, 700mm, 1/300 @ f8, ISO1000, fill @ -3EV, morning light.

Thanks for looking.

What a beautiful bird Kwan. I enjoy seeing this bird in habitat and even though there's lots going on here I think the bird stands out well. Very nice capture!

Great looking bird KC. Obviously a very busy scene with all the branches. At least you managed a clear view of the bird.

What colors on this species KC. Use of fill flash looks very natural. Nice look at the habitat this bird was in. Well done in tough highly vegetated conditions.

Nice image. I love those kinds of background because that's where the bird lives. :toast:

Beautiful, Kwan. I like the way the colors of the bird mimic the foliage. :toast:

You're certainly whetting my appetite KC. You've manged to bring the bird oout from the tangled background. Like theoof leaves and small fruit. I'd be tempted to play around with the twig that merges with the bill.

cheers

Beautiful bird with nice detail and colors. Shame about the stick's location behind the beak.

Here I thought "leafbirds" were a figment of my imagination but now I find out they are real.
Beautiful bird, beautifully captured.
