Careless pollution

Found this old truck sitting in a coal mine hole. I guess it was used as a pumping station at one time. Someone should think about all the pollution being caused by it just sitting here.

Canon 7d, 18-55 kit lens @ 24mm, handheld

C&C appreciated

Sad to see this kind of wanton abandonment anywhere but nevertheless I think this is an excellent photograph that tells a very meaningful story. Good work.

Old mines.... Talk about train wrecks!

The biggest problem, finding someone responsible for cleanup is a very slippery fish. Tales of ducked responsibility are legion. It falls to the current landowner, and they're quick to declare bankruptcy if pushed.

The fact that this is standing in water with the rusted drum in the foreground adds greatly to the message about pollution. Nicely conceived and executed.

The problem is people don't think or care it seems to me. The photo pretty much tells the story I'd say. Ron

Great capture but a little depressing.

Now that is a dismal sight, indeed... Makes me ashamed to be a human being, and I didn't even do it! Now I'm mad.

Terrific and evocative photojournalism capture, Neven. Congrats on the EP for it.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I couldn't just pass by this scene. I actually noticed it from a major 4 lane highway and went back for a look. Wish i knew who to contact about getting it moved out of the water.
