Well everyone might hate this, but thought I would give it a go, this was where the owl was hunting in and out of these tall thin trees, so thought I would try something different and work with the habitat, its going to be one of those shots, like it, hate it.The owl was never the main thing for me in this image I loved the tall weird trees.

Karen, I don't hate it, I think this is a fascinating birdscape. The tree trunks don't obstruct the owl and their color, texture and lines make me think this owl is maneuvering through a giant forest. Which it is. This is unusual, enchanting and a delight to see.

I admire your courage for posting something you thought others might not like.

Thanks Mia for that I really appreciate it, thought I would make the mose of the situation because the owl was keeping its distance most of the time when it did come closer the light wasn t good, it kind of reminds me of an enchanted wood, think I am thinking of my childhood books :rolleyes:It was a right pain focusing with so many trees.

For me this is a "like " image
I love how you captured the bird looking in the direction of it's next turn. The limited dof, makes the included habitat look surreal. Wonderful image IMO. :toast: :toast:

Karen,
Very much an art photography feel to it. Very different and refreshing.

Can't see how anyone could hate or even dislike this image Karen. I think it's wonderful, almost surreal and it certainly is unique in a good way. Love the light on the bird, the wavy trunks and the way the snow or frost on them has effected their edges (maybe that's just light - can't tell for sure). Perfect timing to get the owl unobstructed and with a look at the eye. Good for you for posting this with your hesitation in doing it. I so remember posts where I had serious doubts like you did here - sometimes I struck out and a few times I got a great response - once even a WP on an image I almost trashed because of a clipped wing. You just never know unless you go for it...

The lighting on the trunks makes this image for me Karen. Other worldly really. Nice.

Karen, glad you posted it. This is the type of image that makes art what it is. You have motion in the owl reflected also in the curvy tree trunks and that special light that shimmers off them and is mirrored in the owls face and wings.

Kareen, I really like this posting. I like shots with the birds behavior and this not only shows the owl flying but puts me right into the context. Good job.

Hi Karen: This image is really interesting. It looks surreal to me. The scale of the trees and the owls create the surrealism for me. The light on the trees adds to the effect. I like that you took what was given to you in this habitat and made a very creative image with it. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I had to look at this one for a while, Karen. The tree trunks - all out of focus except for the far right - with the owl navigating through them make for a very interesting image; it's almost surreal. Very cool.

I like this a lot and I'm glad you took it and posted it. A very moody shot - almost mystical in feel.

Like the shadowy ghost like appearance of the trees. Looks like something from Harry Potter. Well done.
