Here is an image taken last spring in Texas. I'm leaving on Wednesday for another Texas trip so I thought I'd post this image before I go. I hope all my NPN friends have a good December and I'll see y'all when I get back. Nikon F5, 600mm AF-S II, Fuji Provia F and RGB matrix metering.

Nope, I'm not jealous. Nope. Don't know what made me say that. Nope.

The taxidermist did a great job with this bird and you placed his body in just the right place for a nice habitat shot.
Add me to the list of those who are fiercely jealous!

This is cruel!
Did you use spray paint on the poor thing?
Great shot Brian, as usual!

Not much else to add to what's been said. I don't even hate you, I'm just jealous.

If you're in Central Texas drop an email & I'll spring for the coffee (OR BEER  )

Brian

Great shot, the vegetation compliments this jewel. Add me to the jealous crowd. The couple of times I have seen Painted Buntings, they were on the ground near a feeder.
Well done.

Brian, you did good here, I see these very hard to get close to birds here in the Austin Texas area all spring and summer the place I shoot at has maybe 10 to 15 mating pairs and I have maybe one image about a tenth as nice as this one. Super shot here wonderful composition and colors, and a image to be jealous of for sure.

I would have loved seeing this one in person, but the next best thing is certainly this "Jewel" of a picture!
