Female Purple Finch
by Garth McElroy
We had a couple weeks when purple finches were abundant as they headed south. I shot this female in the late afternoon. The BG is witch hazel that was just about to drop it's leaves. Thanks for looking.

Now if we can only get Bob Steele to post the equivalent image of a Cassin's Finch!
I'll see what I can do!
Sweet shot Garth. You might try this same shot with a third or two less flash and see how it looks.
Remove some of the flash flare in the eye and I like it lots more.
Not that I don't like it lots, just that I would like it lots more.
Now how's that for a critique? Should I get another job?

BG was about 20 meters away.
I was only able to get shots of one female purple finch around here before they disappeared. Maybe some males will show up at feeders after the snow we're supposed to get this weekend.

Wonderful.
I'm really fascinated by its sharpness.
