Single Otter

I captured this shot yesterday during a pretty heavy snow squall. Ever since I spotted a pair of river otters this year(as first ID'd by Luke Ormand I believe, thanks!), I've been searching for them. From yesterday, this is as close as I've gotten in awhile. Oh well.

Today, I spotted the pair which was great to see, and I believe I have one image of them worth posting.

First this is ISO, 1/125th, f-3.7. Thanks for looking and any comments!

I'm glad you reposted with added sharpening, it was going to be my suggestion... The foreground vegetation adds to the composiiton, if anything I might suggest a bit more foreground and less at the top. The color balance is likely accurate for snow squall conditions, but I might play a little with some alternatives, maybe less cyan. It is so often the case with wildlife photography that subjects seem to appear when least expected, but then are so hard to find again.

Bill, I love the artistic feel of this with those snow flakes and the water ripples. Gary has a point about the cyans and an alternative crop IMO. The IQ does not look all too good from this small version. The subject appears to be a bit soft and it sort of looks posterized. This could be just a jpeg compression issue though?

I like the artistic effect. I am wondering how much of your original this represents. A large crop might explain some of the loss of detail. It is pretty hard to tell with these small posting sizes. This could make a neat, winter themed, greeting card as framed!
