Elgol, Isle of Skye

Photographed in that sweet spot just before total darkness when the trained eye can pick out a warm glow from the set sun and the clouds burn crimson. Even the snow-capped Black Cuillins in the distance are softly glowing.

Canon 5DMkII, 16-35mm 2.8L, ISO 100, f9, 90 seconds, GND filter.

Very nice soft light and deep twilight colors Kah Kit. I love photographing this time of day and you do it better than most. I'm very much enjoying this image.

So soft and peaceful. I love the color reflection on the matte sea.

Sweet comp and lovely light. I particularly enjoy the blues reflecting in the water.

Beautiful seascape, Kah. You sure know how to pick these comps. How did you keep the rock above the horizon on the right from staying too dark given that you used a gnd filter? 2 exposures and a blend?

Kah, When I first saw the thumbnail I was underwhelmed HOWEVER, the larger version really shows off the light and superb and complex composition. I enjoy shooting in this light and can say the your processing of this image is spot on.

No blend Daniel, the cliff on the right was quite bright, catching the evening glow so a 2 stop hard feathered over it wasn't a problem at all, don't recall even dodging it.

I like the comp better in this one Kah Kit. Did the tide come in?

The composition is very similar to the previous one except adjusted to the lighting conditions and higher tide Nicolaus. This was the actual shot I had planned when I saw the composition earlier in the afternoon.

I keep looking through the rock channel and out to the mountains in the BG and back again, and then the softness of the sky and water just fill it right out. Color and tone and spot on. There isn't a thing that makes my eyes want to leave this image. This is how I want to compose, it all feels just right.

the large version especially 'rocks' on this, Kah Kit. The brighter rocks in the fg, on the larger, are a bit oversharpened. The comp would be a little more balanced with a bit of crop from the left, but then you would lose the nice sky color

Nice! Lovely spot, beautifully captured. Great conditions with a silent mood and little drama combined. Light and colors look very nice too.

Real pretty, love the dark mood here! Fg is maybe a tiny bit busy for me, but not a big deal.

I think I like this one a bit better than your other one from this location. The dark blues and magentas are awesome. :toast:
