REPOST-COMPLETE REPROCESS

This is the second image I processed from last weeks photo session near my home. I've photographed this location in the past but was waiting for the right time of the year, tidal conditions, and sunset time to converge. Overall just worked on corrected the color cast (shot really magenta) and a tk glow at about 40% opacity. I think this image looks better viewed large. I added a little vignetting, as I felt it helped focus the image. Let me know what you think.

Canon 5Dii
CZ21 @f8 for 30 seconds with a nd for most of that time.

I know this spot well. I like the comp quite a bit. The large version works better and it gives the viewer a better idea of all the cool features in the foreground. Overall, though, I think the blues are a bit too saturated and the magenta in the ocean is a tad too much for my tastes.

Thanks Jimmy Here is a version with desaturated blues and reds. It's tough typically whenever I do long exposures this time of year I get a lot of purples, reds, etc? I'm surprised we haven't run into each other I'm just in Carlsbad but typically shoot from Encinitas south when I'm out.

Looks like Jimmy Gekas territory but this is a fine shot as well with good use of the foreground patterns. The colours look a little off but they certainly are appealing nonetheless.

Nice composition and light Todd. The color is a bit too intense to my liking though.

I like it. The colors are intense but that's a subjective thing. The fg makes this shot IMO.

Cool FG element here and like the comp, I agree about the magenta in the water, and don't personally care for the vignette in the sky (but works in FG). I do like the interplay between the blues and sunset color, but maybe tone it down just a smidge?

What a neat scene. I really like the comp and the light and colors contribute a lot.

I'd say that some of the saturated colors are maybe still a bit over done, but this can be personal preference. One thing you might want to try is to first make a vibrance mask before adding the glow. Then mask the glow layer with the vibrance mask. This sometimes keeps the saturated colors a little better in check.

Thanks for the cooments and thank you Tony for the tips I'll go back and try that. I dont want them to look that saturated either, I think i need to come up with a better workflow for my photographs that are shot with t
Lots of color in the workflow. I also have been working on a new external monitor that after just testing is much more dull than my MacBook pro, so it's getting calibrated in the a.m.

I think the comp is just awesome, Todd - very appealing. The sats are still overdone for my tastes, even on the repost.

This looks like the time of night where I witness most photographers packing it up, but typically where I get most excited. A longer exposure during these few minutes of twilight produces these amazing colors.
I love the image. The colors look spot on in your final version, but I'm sad to see the beautiful textures in the clouds are pretty much gone.

As a coastal dweller, I love these intense colors! I might tone down the blues in the foreground, but it's a matter of taste after that. The yellows, reds, magenta, cyan, and blues in a thin strip above a vast ocean, that is bathed in a color-cast provided by the particular cloud formations of the moment, just begs to be set free in all it's saturated glory. It's an addiction for which there is no intervention.
The re-post is also very nice, but seems to have lost some texture in both the ocean and clouds. Color aside, the foreground rocks are very eye-catching. :toast:
