Death of a rose

Nikon D300, 50mm, F/9, 1.6sec, ISO 200. Mirror up, cable release.

I wanted to convey the emotion of something beautiful that has expired. Gone forever but always remembered. Comments appreciated.

This is lovely, Albert. I like the detail in the front and the fading detail and softness going into the bg. Nicely done and I think this does convey the emotion you wanted.

Albert, you certainly have achieved the mod you're after. Well done. I might also be tempted to add a vignette around the rose to further enhance the mood.

Pretty cool . . . has more of an impact than I expected based just on the thumbnail. Very nicely done. There are a few spots on the petals that seem a bit hot, but it could just be the crummy monitor I'm on right now.

Love the textures and light Albert. I think I'd prefer more dof near the top to keep those elements sharp as well but it's not a big deal. I like this very much as posted, particularly the bg and the shadowed areas. Very well done and the mood of transience is conveyed extremely well.

Albert:
I think you have achieved your objective in this image. The DOF is just fine. You might like to consider brightening up the shadowed area of the red rose. :toast:

Albert, I think you have succeeded very well in conveying your emotion. The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the stem. I think I would try something to darken the very exposed top end of the stem and I also think I would consider cropping just a tad from the right.

Well done. Would make a great card with a single word, "Memories ..."

Nice job,

Carol

A very sad, yet elegant death.

Just gorgeous, Albert ! Beautifully composed to suggest the death of the flower, superbly coloured and rendered in detail. The dof, with the touches of blur to the top, seems inspired to me.

Albert: Fine concept superbly executed. I might select the BG and blur it a bit or add more texture. As is its the only element I have some pause about. Nicely done.>=))>
