Lilac Breasted Roller

These birds flourish in Tanzania and are quite a sight to see when rolling. Alas, difficult to catch a good image while rolling in the sky. Canon 7D with 400mm lens, hand-held.

Beautiful bird, perfectly exposed and sharp. I'd be tempted to crop this to get the bird out of the center.

Pretty pose and bird. Nice background compliments the image. The composition feels a bit centered. I find the pink frame distracting.

Very pretty bird, nice pose and good perch, MIchael. I agree with Keith that the pink frame is a bit distracting....maybe because it competes with the pink in the bird. When I clicked on "Purchase Print" it gave me a "not found" error. Maybe it knows that I was just curious to see other examples of your work. :toast:

A very nice image of a spectacular colored bird, Michael! I agree with others that it is a bit too centered. :toast:

Michael, this is a beautiful bird and the pose is great. I find that all of the framing competes with the bird and the pink definitely draws my eye away from the subject. Plus the size of the actual image is reduced to about 630 x 365 pixels, too small to evaluate sharpness and detail. I agree that the bird feels too centered, I'd crop some from the left and leave more on the right, I might even be tempted to see how this looks as a vertical since the bird's pose is somewhat erect.

Stunning bird...can't wait to see one of these in the wild. You've captured this one brilliantly.
