More flow than normal in Bridal Veil Creek, and a steady rain too! A lot of moisture in the air that I wanted to come across here. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for your thoughts. Larger version included as well.

Thanks,
Chris

A beautiful scene and excellent composition, but there seems to be a definite yellow color cast in the water. Granted, my eyes are very tired at the moment and more than a little blurry, but I don't think it's just my eyes. I'll check it again in the morning; hopefully it's just me.

Hey Bill,
I noticed something a little different in the water too. I thought it might be due to a heavier amount of dirt/dust being washed into the creek from the rain????

Beautiful scene and comp here, but I agree w/ the yellow comment. I also think you could sharpen this up a bit and there is some blur on the left edge that looks like water on the lens or something (?), but nice capture!

Chris,

I really like the composition and the color of the yellow leaves. I also see a color cast that is yellow/cyan in the whitewater and the green trees look a bit oversaturated. This is a peaceful and quiet shot. Nice work!

Nice little scene, but probably not one of my favorites of your images from the Yosemite trip. I would echo the other comments about the color cast.

This is beautiful, Chris. The autumn colors are gorgeous and your composition is excellent. The water does look a little on the warm side as others stated but may be due some tannins or other stuff. Nicely done.

Well, I guess I needed to be more selective with the saturation. That's what seemed to cause the cast in the lower half of the image. I didn't intentionally warm that in processing. Here's a different file processed from scratch. I made some deliberate color balance/saturation adjustments trying not to effect the water in this one.

Thanks

I love the way the composition funnels into the waterfall in the center. The colors in the edited versions do look better to me. I would be tempted to bump the saturation a bit too. Beautiful image.

The repost looks better Chris. The comp is really good. Really brings you into the scene. In the repost I might open up the shadows a touch and add some saturation. Cheers

Ditto on the comp being excellent. The repost is better, but I like the suggestions to be made to it as well. Very nice peaceful, beautiful landscape.

Gorgeous view here, Chris. I might consider making it a bit more simple by cropping from the right though, as those trees would frame the main creek perfectly. Regarding the processing, what I would do here is work this using different layers to optimize both background and the stream. I like everything about the first one except the water itself, which has a cast. The second version everything is toned down and the water more muddy, but with no cast. I'd take the second version, do some highlight dodging of the water and see if you can't get back to what you did with the first version everywhere else. If you don't want to layer it together like that, I'd at least dodge the water in the second version.

Marc,
Thanks, My feelings about the repost are pretty much what you said. I think it is more color correct, but also has lost something in translation. I did not do as much work with the shadows, and dodge burn as in the first, because I thought that's where I might have started introducing the cast. But in the end, I think I might have gone a little to far with the vibrance in ACR. I will go back to the original raw file and start again. As for the crop, I can see that too, I'll give it a try. maybe to about a 4x5 ratio?

Thanks

Nice, Chris. Beautiful composition and great autumn mood. The second version looks better, maybe just a bit too dark. Lovely scene.

Okay, I went back and started over again with the original file posted. I think I've addressed every suggestion, hopefully for the better. Also tried Marc's crop suggestion with a little off the left too to eliminate that foggy area. The cropped version is below. Sorry to add so many redux;s, but this one was pretty bad, my apologies.

Beautiful composition and I think you brought the color it back to life in the second re-post!

Very good composition Chris! The creek and the rocks create a big wide open "V" that adds a lot of structure to the composition. I also like the upper half - the alignment of the trees and the foliage works very well to compliment the lower half. The last re-work is awesome. Looks perfect. Good work my Friend!

Chris,

Glad I checked in when I did so that you've already gone through the corrections! I was going to have to be honest and say that the first posting was, well, far from your stellar processing. The original just looked off. Too much bringing out of the shadows was a big thing for me.

But that's all water under the bridge now because your final version with the crop is beautiful! I do notice though that the trunks on the right still have a little bit different shadow value than those on the right. If you're still open for working it, I would have all the trunks about the same and somewhere in between the left and right trunks, if that makes sense.

It's a great spot and you've captured it well. A nice addition to your portfolio.
