Foggy December Morning

I mostly contribute to the Avian Gallery. I really like this gallery and when I went out to shoot this morning and found it foggy, I thought I would five a scenic shot a try. I converted this to B&W, and increased the contrast a bit. Comments would be appreciated.

A beautiful moody scene. Compositionally I think it's a little too "heavy" on the right side while the left feels a bit empty. I wonder if a small crop can help balance it. I would also consider setting the white point much whiter to help with contrast and to bring out more detail in the bird and branches.

The muted atmosphere spreads to the observer. The shot makes a slightly underexposed impression to me. I would also try a vertical size, maybe reduced to the middle third.

The grey does look a little over powering, it could use a push to the right. I do enjoy the subject matter though. Cheers

Guy and Peter, first thank you for your comments. I am fairly new to processing and I process in Elements. But I gave it a try to incorporate your comments. I went to levels and moved the white to the right and I tried the crop suggested by Peter. I still think it needs some work. Again thanks.

I like the new crop a lot, Harry! My personal preference (and keep in mind that's all it is) would be to push that white point even farther to the right so the background is even brighter.

Very nice scene Harry. I like the recropped version, but will echo Guy's comments about making the image brighter. Might need a little bit of noise reduction as well, but I'm not sure if Elements has NR capabilities.

The second version is much more filled with intimacy. A rather rare point of view, I like it!

Wonderful atmosphere and mood. Your cropped version nails the composition in my opinion and with a bit more brightening as suggested, will be outstanding. Really nice work.
