2010 Solstice Eclipse

by Luis Argerich

Gallery: LandscapePosted December 21, 2010579 views26 comments
Hi All,

After more than 1600 years we had a total Lunar Eclipse on the Solstice Day. This is a composite of six stages of the eclipse from Full Moon to Totality as seen from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I was lucky to have clear skies!

Canon T2i, Canon 400mm F5.6 lens.

Cheers,
Luis

I was hoping to do something similar, but half the state of California (my half of course) was covered in clouds and it's been raining for 5 days. Maybe I'll catch the next one! Cool shot and well presented.

Thank you for the feedback!

A new version with minor fixes, more light in the totality fase, some luminosity bumps fixed, minor nits corrected.

Very nice composite Luis. When I saw this I almost did not post my image of just the moon in near totality.

Excellent! I prefer the first version as the moon in totality seems too bright relative to the other stages in the repost. Regardless, I'm so happy to see this. We had nothing but clouds where I live. :toast:

Very well presented--looks great! The repost is much better IMO. The subject/comp has been done a zillion times before, so i can't say this is that original, but that shouldnt stop you from shooting it anyways

This is great Luis. Very well planned and excecuted. Cloudy skies in my neck of the woods made it impossible to see.
