I took this along US 95 at the end of October somewhere between Mina & Coaldale Jct. The highway begins tending to the east in that area. I was facing SW into California toward the White Mtns. This might be Boundary Peak

2 exposure blend in Photomatix. Canon 5D MKII; 1/2 and 1 sec @ f/22; 58mm; 24-105mm f/4L; Induro C213 tripod, Giottos MH1300 ballhead; cable release.

Wow, that is insane light!! Would you consider cloning out the bush in the lower right corner? Or at least burn it way down? To my eye, it disrupts the flow of the composition. Great stuff though. Amazing light and scene.

Wonderful light! If those are the Whites, then the rightmost mtn is indeed Boundary Peak. This could use a pano crop from top and bottom.

Harley,

The bush bothered me, too. So do my cloning skills, but I made a stab at it.

Jeffrey,

I'll work on your suggestion next.

Thanks to both for the suggestions.

Craig,

That is a big area to clone, which makes it tough, but I like the look of the cloned version. The composition works much better for me with that bush gone.

Craig, I really like this! The repost is stronger without the bush on the right. Yes, that is Boundary Peak. I really like the sun light streak, but it appears to be a little over saturated. You did a nice job with the blend, and I really like the light.

Well done!

Craig,

A universe away from Simi eh? Wonderful layers in this image. If no one mentions the bush , right.....The 2nd version without the bush is only better because it emphasizes the mg light and bg peaks, the bush did tend to draw your eye to the RHLC. It's something we just can't control I think it's an evolutionary imprint, like what's hiding behind that bush that might eat me? It's a beautiful image and from a rarely "seen" view. Thanks for sharing.
