I had my 7D checked out by Canon and they repaired the focus. There was a problem and I pretty sure they have fixed it. Now to work on the person behind the camera. My wife joined me on a trip to Bolsa Chica and brought some good luck. This fellow posed for me for about three minutes and I got some nice poses. I like this head turn the best. Crop shows 50% of original.

Comments are appreciated.

Looks like the image is nice and sharp. Nice bird as well. The image appears to be quite a bit underexposed. I see from your EXIF info that you were at -1/3. Shooting into a blue sky with a dark bird will require positive exposure compensation to properly expose the bird. Probably at least +1 for a shot like this, and maybe more.

I too like the headturn very much. It does appear a bit underexposed to me. I love the perch too. Flowers even at this time of year? Very nice.

Outstanding head turn, catchlight. Nice pose. Bit of a steep angle but o.k. A bit underexposed as previously mentioned. You could try some more post processing to improve that aspect but you need to watch for noise.

I also like everything about the shot, but I also agree that it is dark, but I would think that you could fix that pretty easily in post processing.
