Crystal Continent

Brash ice flows freely in the Numeyer Channel, Antarctic Peninsula. Little wonder they call Antarctica the Crystal Continent.

My recent Antarctica cruise was incredible, it is something you definitely want on the top of your list.

P65+, 24mmXL cropped to 4x5 and processed B&W for effect.

Thanks for looking

Very interesting B&W combining all the elements. The larger version looks great with some nice contrast between the sky, snow capped mts, water and ice. I might be inclined to crop a little off the bottom to get the OOF ice in the lower left corner out of the frame which also helps with the ice flow from the right corner to lead you into the image but in any case a real visual treat, well seen and well done.

I really like how the clouds and the ice sort of echo each other. The textures and tones here are marvelous. I don't even want to see the color version.

This is absolutely stunning, Ed! Excellent detail and great composition. A trip I would love to take myself some day.

This really is a treat! I love the B&W conversion here; it really allows me to focus on the elements you have captured. As an alternative, I may try a slight crop from the left and dodging a bit of the ice flow to emphasize the curve it forms leading to the mountains. I can only imagine the impact of this scene in person and this image helps take me there!

I like the composition, the scattered ice and the sense of space... And the B&W suits this image quite well. Very nice!
