Shot on Pensacola Beach over a tide pool; the sun had disappeared 15-20 minutes prior to this shot and it was almost dark. This was double processed to lighten the sand a bit. Please view LARGER version to for better detail.

Nice leading lines and a fluid composition Bill. Your sky looks to be approaching the point where it has banding issues, but I think you drew line at just the right point. Awesome job at holding down the highlights in the water. I could be my monitor, but it looks like you have a sizeable dust spot right in the middle of your sky. I hope you are having a great New Year.

The highlighted outlines of the sand and along the horizon are gorgeous Bill. I also like how the shoreline leads me into the scene.

this is very nice, Bill. I think your choice of exposure for the sand fits perfectly by showing detail but not enough to kill the mood

Bill,

Beautiful sunset image. I really like the composition and chosen proportions (rule of thirds?) Great job with the processing in bringing out the details in the sand, yet not altering the mood as Doug commented. A simple and very pleasing image.

Beautiful and very tranquil image, Bill. The horizon looks like it could use a little CCW tilt. Nice curves in the sand.

Thanks all for your comments. I see what you mean about the horizon looking tilted but it was actually dead on level according to my bubble level. The tide pool far shoreline is also at an oblique angle which also leads you to think it's tilted.

Tremendous color and comp, your eye stays right in the ballpark. The mood it gives off is wonderfully serene. This is a 2011 fave for me!
