Coastal Dreams

Carlsbad, California

This scene seems like one of those cheesy dreamscapes to me. Oh, well.

Technical note: I just got a Nikon 14-24 and adapter for my Canon and this was my second time using the lens. So far, I really like it. Not sure how much work my Zeiss 21 will get :frown: Stay tuned for some pothole shots from my favorite beach at 14mm.

Canon 5Dmk2, Nikon 14-24 at ? . Two exposure blend for highlight control.

Don't call it cheesy -- you do dreamscapes so well! :wavey:

I really like the symmetry between the rows of rocks at the bottom and the cloud at the top. I think you might actually need more/stronger clouds to really make this work, but it's nice nonetheless. Here I think I would consider a slight crop from the right to tighten it up a little.

P.S. Please keep us posted on your experience with the 14. It is a really sweet lens.

I see a definite theme going on with slightly diagonal horizontal lines that pulls it together. Glad to hear you picked up a 14-24.

It's so DREAMY Jimmy haha. I like the comp, but would prefer to see a little more of the rocks in the FG. Are you using the Novoflex adapter or something different?

Yup, nice & dreamy. I love how the rocks just seem to glide away under the surface.

I wouldn't call this cheesy at all. I think you've managed a very surreal interpretation of this dream-like scene. Good stuff, man!

I love the soft colors here -- they look very natural and beautiful. The foreground rocks add a lot of interest to the scene.

Wonderful soft tones in the water and I like the way the rocks recede into the distance. You are a coastal artist, Jimmy. You have such an impressive portfolio of these.

I wouldn't have thought it was cheesy, until you put it in my head. Now it's pure velveta!
