Hi Kim,

Glad to see that they are back on the shores. We have all spent time waiting for a subject to get closer, only to find a dog that has different ideas.

I like the eye contact and you did well to catch one on a rock.

What lens did you use out of interest ?

Cheers

It can be terribly frustrating when a dog / walker disturbs your subject, but the other day I had a dog push a flock of waders over to me as I was waiting for the tide to push them in!

Nice portrait, I like the composition and the space around the bird.

Nice composition Kim. Good detail in the bird and the OOF rocks show the environment nicely without detracting from the image. :wavey: :toast:

Very nice shot! Pretty little bird with good colors, eye, and perch.
To me, the BG is a bit too pronounced. An F 4 or so might have blurred it a bit more, yet left some detail. Now, after the fact (if you wished to) you could run a lassoo around the bird and rock, invert the selection, and then add a touch of Gaussian blur to the BG.
But VERY nice as is!

Unlike Sandy, when I first looked at the shot, the background was the first thing that impressed me, and I wondered what lens you used for it - you don't say.

I also pursue snow buntings along beaches, and echo your comments. The only good thing is that by the end of winter the buntings are so used to people and animals that they hardly bother to move. A fabulous shot.

Many thanks for the comments, sorry I forgot to put the camera and lens - have corrected it now!! I appreciate very much any advice and suggestions - but I do prefer a natural background where possible rather than to blur it out - and in this case - I think the background does add to the picture.

Very nice Kim - you don't often get these perched up clear of the ground.
