Great theme for the week, I was surprised when I looked back through my files for my first nature shot as this was the image that started it all for me. I had only owned my camera for a day at this point and the first few images were of my children . This was shot at the Delta Rifle Bird Sanctuary ,a favorite outing of my family's to see all the migrating birds.Funny enough this is also my first ever award.I won first place with a local group that had invited a CAPA judge to judge our images. Also my first night with that group. So to sum it up this image was more that my first shot it was my first everything. It has been not been edited at all , This was before I knew to shoot in Raw! So thank you for this great weekly theme, it has been a long three years since I shot this image with a lot of personal and artistic growth, it was good to look back on how much has changed since I first picked up my camera. Cheers

Lovely image Lorna! I know that there will be some other really good ones but right now it is hard for me to imagine one more endearing.

I enjoy the spontaneity you captured in the picture, it is just what we call the right moment.

I love the curve of the path with the light at the end. It leads you right to them and down the path. And, of course, I love the subjects. :toast: What a great catch.

Natural talent showing through for sure here Lucy. The comp is very good with the path leading me all the way through the frame.

Lorna,

How lucky for you that your first image was so successful. Very appropriate title these birds mate fro life, could even be neighbors, after all I'm Canadian too. Not that I live in Canada but these magnificent birds winter here in So Cal so I sometime see large flocks of them in the open fields. Unusual that these are alone, and they do seem so intent on wandering down the lane. Just a great image overall.

Thank you all for your lovely comments, Paul They were heading to the water , the first bend in the path is the access way to an inlet of water. I think they were in the process of nest building when I came on them starting to walk down the path. Or they were off for a swim! Anyway once the reached the bend they went strait for the water. Was only able to get three shots this one being the first before the moment was lost!

I love this picture. Looks like they are just taking a lover's stroller down the lane. Nice catch.
