I had hiked this area, called Short Springs, in south central Tennessee, many times with several friends, but I never had a chance to photograph the falls. I finally got the chance to carry my equipment in and take the time and shoot several images. This is one of my favorites from that first chance to photograph this falls.

Canon 30D
Sigma 17-70
Aperture Priority
Shutter 1/8
Aperture f9
ISO 100
25mm
-2/3 Exposure Comp.

Very nice results Richard! Your shutter speed is perfect for me too as it is somewhat smoothed but retains the delicate tendrils as the water falls. The large version is stunning!

Impressive falls! Not a bad comp either. The lower branches dont bother me any, but the ones near the top of the falls a re a bit intrusive. Some nice clarity and good exposure, tho!

There is great consistency in composition, colors and exposure. Maybe a tiny tilt to the right could be advantageous? I agree with Stan about the branch at the top, in my opinion cropping it would not alter the expression of this very fine image.

Richard: Beautiful little scene superbly captured. I especially like your SS choice and how it rendered the water. Most excellent. >=))>

Richard,

Beautiful image - not just of the falls, but the entire scene as a whole image. Very well composed.
