Snow Eagle

Seasons change... people change... but my avian photos never seem to!! Always flying AWAY! :( Hello all. Well, after photographing and seeing my first eagles this year, this one came as quite a surprise on our way to a waterfall this morning. The light and shadows and snow made it even more difficult, as I shot with the D60 and only 200mm lens.

But it made my day, it was my first eagle sighted in winter, and I kind of like the atmosphere of it anyway. Thanks for looking, any C&C welcomed. Shot in RAW at ISO-400, 1/640th, f-11.0, 200mm, processed in Elements. Take-off after standing in the snow.

Bill,

I like the eagle and the snow but there's a big halo around the bird which is quite distracting.

Well it's an angelic eagle Luke. Thanks for pointing that out, with the snow on the lake and my untrained eye, I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Hopefully I can try it again, thanks as always!!

Nice shot Bill, I like the overall feel this photograph gives. Cold, beautiful winter day with an eagle hunting for a meal. You can feel the cold by looking at the image.

Bill, this is the same scenes I get around here and given the distance with the 200mm, I think you did a great job for the snow etc. You may be able to drop the halo effect a bit but overall, I really like the image. And yes, most of the flying eagle shots I get are rear ended too. Good job :toast:
