Marble Falls 2005
Minolta M7
Minolta 24-85
Velvia 50

This is just outside Marble Falls, Texas and has been a bit of a Texas icon for some time. I made my first pilgrimage in 2004 to see the place and then planned to get there for a sunrise shot sometime in a subsequent season. 2005 promised to be a pretty good year so I planned to drive there early in the morning and be there for the good light. Marble Falls is about 250 miles from our house so I had to leave about 3:00am. West of Austin the sky began to lighten a bit earlier than I had expected so I sped up a bit (actually I sped up a lot) and got to Marble Falls about 5 minutes before the sun cracked the horizon. Fortunately this is roadside so I didn't have to do anything but park, set up and start shooting.

The next couple of years were wildflower busts so I didn't return. In 2008 the landowner got so ticked off at people jumping his fence to take pictures that he plowed the field under. (This was taken outside the fence.) I went back through there last spring which was the best wildflower year we've had here in a long time and the field was beginning to recover. I got lucky and got to talk to one of the ranch hands who said that they were reseeding. The field was in recovery and maybe this year it will be back to full glory. All comments welcome. >=))>

Good story and shot.I like the way the light goes into shadow and back into good light on the structure.
I would also like to thank you for your kind words and helpfull input on my, too few, postings in the Flora Gallery! My wife loved the Azalea on canvas for Christmas.

Bill, a very attractive shot of this beautiful scenery! I especially like the shadow in the midground, which lets the delicate play of light be shown to its fullest advantage.

Beautiful Bill. I think maybe even the old homestead has just as much meaning or presence here. But together this makes for a landmark, picture-postcard image. Glad to hear the field is coming back.
