Osage-Orange Allee

An Osage-Orange allee in Kent Co., Delaware taken on 11/26/2010.

Obviously processed in CS4 and NIK, B&W conversion and toned. I wanted to give this a darker mood as if the viewer was walking to Dracula's castle or evading werewolves. Does it work?

Will: Works for me. Even the thumbnail has a moody look to it. Terrific conversion and comp. I like this a lot. >=))>

Actually I find it to be a rather pleasant scene, though I could certainly see how others would see it somewhat differently. Very cool shot, and excellent processing.

Reminds me of Wizard of Oz scene where the group is going through the forest on the way to the witches castle  Your post processing was excellent to set the mood. The gnarly trees also enhanced the mood.

Will:
A nice B&W conversion. Like the mood but I do not get the sense of doom or dread - actually I would probably quite enjoy walking along the path. Like the rounded stone on the side of the path as well.

Love the image Will. The bare branches convey a slightly Halloweenish feel to it but to me it actually seems more like a vaulted cathedral and that's the mood I take from the image. I'd love to walk down that long road moving toward the light or the stained glass at the end.

Growing up in OK or I guess anywhere in the plains states where Osage Orange was used for wind breaks I've seen a lot of it. Even have a bow made out of it but I've never seen it presented quite this majestically.

What an image.

Is that some kind of fallen fruit in the fg. I like the light on it and the image as a whole is outstanding.. Pleasantly creepy. :toast:

As a small-ish girl with an overactive imagination, this is an alley I'd RUN through to avoid the werewolves! Your processing conveys this mood excellently. Beautiful scene!

Thank you all. Yes, those round balls are the fruit of the tree. As a kid we called them Monkey Oranges (i have no idea why). These are the size of an orange.

Works for me! The trees give me the creeps, not a road you would want to travel by yourself. I especially like the lighting. :toast:
