As I stepped outside this morning, the sunrise along with the ice on the trees and hillsides created an incredible light display.

D60, ISO-200, 1/640th, f-11.0, 48mm. Larger posted, thanks for any C&C.

REPOST WITH CROP OF SKY ADDED.

Looks like a terrific little ice storm there, Bill! We dont get many of those here in Ern CO--i miss them. Well, clean up the sky noise ust a bit (personally, id just crop the dark top where the noise is most evident) and this will be a real winner. Pretty shot.

Hey Stan, thank you for the input. I agree, I didn't notice the noise though 'til posted here. Please check out the larger version, though no matter what, the compression does not do this justice, a fave new abstract of mine.

There are no shooting or processing tricks, this is how it looked, the tree was aglow, as were the mountains. I missed most of it, which I regret.

A great eye for seeing this Bill. It only last for so long and you really need to be ready when these types of conditions come up. Everything looks good to me, just wondering if you sharpened the sky, that also could lead to the noise in the upper portion. Cheers

I agree with Stan; I don't see any reason not to let the tree leave the top of the frame since it is already clipped on every other side (the right choice I think). Even the larger version isn't probably doing this justice.

Here is a crop that serves the purpose (hopefully) of eliminating the noise, and making an even more compelling comp. Thanks for the advice guys!

And you are correct I think Kent, the thumbnail looks like nothing special at all, the larger version here is getting somewhere... but large on the monitor it really pops. Thanks. :toast:

Nice shot, Bill! I like the repost a bit better than the original. Good eye!
