This is a photo of a calendulas bloom I took on a sunny afternoon. Edited and enhanced to emphasize the glowing orange color.

I think there's too much going on in this one for my tastes. The frame, heavy vignette, vignette artifacts, petal shadows, bold colors, strong light are all interesting individually but I'm left with the sense that I'm not seeing seeing an image of the flower so much as a collection of disparate image elements. I guess my real reservation is that I'd like to see more of the flower as a subject in it's own right. The elements are all interesting, striking even but they're not coming together for me. This may very well just be me though.

Eve: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet. My thoughts echo Pat's pretty much. The vignette artifacts especially don't work for me. This is a bold presentation though so personal taste will color the reactions more than usual. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more.>=))>
