Hello NPN,
I'm new here and this is my first photo post...
Anyways, I'm swiss and currently am studying architecture in Mendrisio. In my spare time i enjoy photography. My father bought my a Canon EOS 550d for my 19th birthday. I hope you like this first picture and I'd love to hear some constructive criticism :D

Welcome to the gallery Zaccaria.

To me the most interesting part of this image is the dandelion head. The background seems a little busy to me. I'd probably be inclined to crop in tighter around the head and to darken the brightest blades in the bg. In particular the stem on the right is over exposed and also a bit distracting. Also the head appears to be over exposed at 2:00 and 3:00

I like the white against the green but it's really the structure of the head that interests me.

Again welcome. I'm looking forward to more of your posts.

Zac: Welcome to NPN and to the finest Flora gallery on the planet. My thoughts echo Pat's regarding the blown highlights and the need for a tighter crop. A habit you should develop early in your growth curve is to review the histogram after each shot. I'm not familiar with your specific camera but most histogram displays will show blown highlights and clipped shadows with blinking lights. One of the great things about digital capture is that you can immediately assess your exposure and adjust accordingly. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more.>=))>
