Formby Point

I took this shot at Formby Point just north of Liverpool on Christmas eve. I know the whole UK had a good dumping of snow but I wasn't prepared for this and have never seen as much snow on the coast before (albeit this shot doesn't look like there is much snow). I followed a receding tide as the sun was setting to get a view back to the dunes.

D700, 16-35mm. 1/30 sec @ f/16, iso 200.

TK's make it glow action was used at a reduced opacity.

All feedback is welcome and thanks for looking.

Gary.

Very nice scene, Gary. I like the ripples of the foreground sand and the saturation provided by the make it glow action looks perfect to me.

What an awesome fg--love all those cool shapes. Very nice. Not to knock this shot, since i think its fine, but hopefully you got something featuring the snow in the fg, since evidently thats what made these conditions unique.

The textured FG does it for me. I would have expected to this type of scen from your area. AN eye-opener for me! I think your processing was right on.

Gary,

This is beautiful and the processing, whatever techniques employed, really make this sing. Starting with the beautiful blue sky and the beautiful last light on the hills/dunes is just gorgeous. I think I'm actually more impressed with the background and colors than I am with the wonderful patterns in the foreground. Together though, this makes for a very strong image.

I'm thinking though... a long pano cropped just above the snow covered rock.... very nice.

Like the smooth and subtle processing it really brings out the tranquil qualities in the composition Gary.

Very nice shot Gary. I like the warm light illuminating the snow and sand. Nice blues and magentas.

I would've never thought to glow an image like this, but it looks great. The foreground texture is very engaging. Could see trying to lighten up the bottom a bit to reveal more texture in these dark tones.

Really nice light and texture. I thought the dunes were mountains at first. What a treat to have snow at the beach. Nicely done.

Interesting shapes in the foreground Gary. From the thumbnail, I thought those were mountains as well.
