Gathering of Autumn

This my friends is the 15th and very last image from that trip to Yosemite now two and one half months ago! What a great trip that was. One of the most productive photo weekends I can remember experiencing in a long time.

Here is another image along the Merced River just west of the Pahono Bridge. I don't think I favor this over any others, but thought it was worth processing and sharing. All comments and critiques welcome as always.

4x5, Nikkor 210mm, V100, f/32 @2s
TK's masks and actions.

Thanks!

Lon

Lon,

Well I think this is one of the best you made from that trip. I love the serene feeling this conveys. The colors are wonderful and especially the mixture of all the color in the water.

Very nice and a great mixture of color there even way into the background Lon. A tranquil keeper if you ask me!

I shot a (possibly) nice pano down there west of the bridge.

The overall detail in the larger version is amazing, Lon. The lighting here seems perfect in the support of this image. Another excellent capture from the series of images around or along this area of the Merced River.

The variety of colors and textures here make this better than the other, IMO, Lon, plus the reflection is a real bonus.

I will have to be the contrarian and say this is not one of my favorites from your Yosemite adventure. It has fine color and a nice reflection, but I find my eye wandering, looking for something to lock onto.

This is wonderful! Not my favorite from the trip, but wonderful just the same. It doesn't jump out and grab my attention right away. But the longer I look at it, the more I enjoy it. The color is nice, and it looks to me like you decided to go a little conservative with the saturation. I think it's good, but might experiment a little with the color intensity of the reflections.

Hi Lon,
Beautiful display of colors, and I really like the reflection.

Works great for me Lon. The bg with all the dense details and colors is worth a long study. I like that subtle line of orange/yellow foliage that runs diagonally from centre to the upper right. Not obvious at first sight maybe but these are the hidden lines which make such images work so well. I also like the reflection at the bottom a lot. A very beautiful scene Lon!

Lon, really, your very last? I hope not, but I guess the seasons do change. I have enjoyed all of your Yosemite posts from this year very much; looked carefully at each one and learned from them. While this post is lovely: color, comp., sense of depth, reflection, it's not one of my favorites.....you have set a very high bar for yourself! I'm already looking forward to your Spring Ensemble. :toast:

Lon, what I like most is the beautiful melting of colors in the reflexion, like an alloy. I really enjoy it.

very elegant as ever - and the mix of colour, particularly in the water is very compelling.

This is one that needs to be viewed large in order to be really appreciated IMO. I love the rocks at the edge of the water and the centered barren tree. A lovely shot Lon.

Another wonderfully calming scene. Whenever I get stressed from now on, I'm going to remember your work and visit your gallery. I also love scenes like this because I know those light greens were probably glowing like neon signs. Lovely image, Lon!

So much to enjoy in this, Lon; the colors, the depth and detail, and the killer reflection. It's interesting that in the small version I was a bit distracted by that bare trunk in the center, but I don't find that to be the case in the larger post. I've really enjoyed all your work from this Yosemite outing.

Thanks everyone! Certainly not a barn-burner but glad it has some appeal.

I'm glad some folks bring up the reflections in the water because I specifically played with the saturation and contrast just in the water.

Chris - I wondered about the general saturation. It seems lately I've been more conservative on that while trying to draw the fine line between making an image pop and not going beyond what most folks would consider "real."

Now get with the program and show us some frigid snowy scenes
Stan, comin' right up!

Thanks for the comments!

Lon, I don't know if anyone can capture trees in autumn better than you do. It's such pleasure to view your photographs! Detail, color and delicacy always amaze me. Gorgeous!
