Oak leaf and pebbles

I shot this yesterday on a trip to the Verzasca Valley in Southern Switzerland. This is one of those places I love to go back to and I never tire of photographing the incredible granite formations near the village of Lavertezzo.

Anyway, this was the second or third of my 'one-last-shot-before-I-leave' images...

(I also took the 5x4 along with me and those pictures will show up once they've been developed.)

I like this a lot Julian. Beautiful shapes and textures. That leaf really adds a lot too. Well done.

Very nice, Julian. This valley is on my to-do-list for a while now. Can't wait to see LF version.

Wonderful intimate scene. I may play around with slightly desaturating the brown rock up top and maybe adding a bit to the leaf, just to help focus the eye.

Excellent detail in this. The ice crystals on the leaf are great. A nice mix of patterns and tones. Well done.

Paul, thanks for that. I tried to use local contrast adjustment to achieve the same end but varying the saturation works a treat. Great tip!

Anyway, here's the re-post.

Nice shot Julian. This is one of thoses times when you can "break the rules" and center the object and get away with it.

Julian,

Wonderful, intimate little scene. Nicely captured and presented on all accounts. No nits or suggestions, a solid image.

Incredible image, Julian. Love the textures in the rocks, and the warm tones of the leaf complement those in the rocks so very well. Really beautiful work. The 4x5 transparency of this will be exquisite I'm sure.
