Enlighten me

Whenever I drive the I-70 corridor from Denver through the mountains, and when I have the time to do so, I pull off at the Bakerville exit. It's just an overpass that goes to an old abandoned townsite, but it has this great view of Torreys Peak. It is rare that there isn't something special going on around this 14'er. I arrived just in time this morning to catch first light hitting the clouds sweeping across the peak.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Quite the nice portrait Morris! The comp works fine, the mountain stands out nicely behind the two ridges.
Not sure about the processing, but looks like if ya pulled the shadows quite a bit?

Hi Morris,

I really like the golden light blowing across the top of the peak. It looks great as presented and I also think you could warm up the shadows a bit too.

A simple but very effective composition and that sunrise hitting the clouds is just beautiful. I like the foreground ridges as they are. For me there's enough detail to make for a nice lead-in to the snowy mountain without being distracting.

Thanks guys! And thanks, Robert as that was exactly my intent on the foreground.
And yes, Didl, I did use the shadow recovery, but only at 10%. I like the resemblance to an etching with the snow and the trees. Hopefullly it's not too strong on other monitors.

You get some sweet light and conditions at this spot! I like this one a lot too, and it goes as a nice contrast to your other epic shot from here.

This is nice. Feels like an active volcano covered in snow. I see Bakerville just east of the Hwy 6 turnoff. I drive this route occasionally too. May have to stop.

Lovely capture Morris. Love the light on the plume, and also like the opposing diagonals in the FG. Well done.

Fantastic, Morris. Love that light touching the wind blown clouds. Great composition as well.
