Headwaters; Abyss

Thought I'd try another water image. This was taken looking directly down into a small mountain spring. I increased the constrast a bit in Lightroom and sharpened it. I'm not sure if the small moss covered rock in the lower left adds or detracts. I was hoping it would ground the image a little. The spring by itself seemed a little too abstract

Much nicer than the last one--this one is really nice and sharp (maybe too sharp for the corner details...) If you can tone down the brightest spots in the center just a bit, i think this would be a real winner. :wavey:

I like this shot as is and the small rock at the bottom doesn't bother me at all. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing a tighter more abstract version as well - just for comparison because the middle part of the image is the most interesting for me.

The abstract quality to this is appealing and I like the light.

Nancy,

I think this is simply fascinating! What a fantastic natural abstract and I think you did very well to capture this.

I agree with your observation about the rock. I do think it does ground the image and provide some scale and context. However, a smaller section of this would really put this in an abstract world where the viewer would really wonder what this was all about.

The textures, colors and even the highlights all combine for a fascinating image. I might agree that the sharpening could be pulled back slightly and also the highlights or overall brightness could be reduced, but overall I think this is quite an excellent capture.

I love these colors and the motion of the water, and the light is great.
