Richard,

Lovely image. You were able to get very close at 180 mm. The eyes are a different color than the eyes of the ones I photographed recently in Tampa. The eyes on these birds were a reddish pink color. I wonder if diet or gender have an imapct on eye color?

This is just beautiful! It is so exquisitely clear in the larger version. Perfect comp for me, and wonderful colors and clarity.

neat shot, Richard--I like the active feeding and clear look at the eye. nice swirls and reflection in the water too. details look good. a lower angle would be ideal, but may not have been available, and may have been obscured by the veg in the lower part of the frame. I make my first trip to FL in a month and a half and can't wait to see one of these!

Can't recall seeing a photo of one of these birds in active feeding behavior, this is a great example. Agree with others, excellent comp and colors, sharpness. :toast:
