I think with this image I would be tempted to crop in tight on the bears face and the fish. What ever it is with the pattern right behind the bears shoulder is to me distracting. Must have been a neat experience. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill,

OK - your last post was Bear0001 and this one is Bear0002 - does that mean we have 9998 more to go?? Not a complaint, but you do realize if you post 9999 bear images you may take the lead away from me in terms of number of bear posts?!

I like the behaviour/action here, and the eye contact is nice, but to my eye the image appears a bit on the soft side (sharpness-wise). Perhaps a function of shutter speed (but not sure if this was hand-held vs. on a tripod)? The framing/cropping on this one seems a bit tight to me - if this isn't full frame it might be worth experimenting with adding a little more room all around (which could give you more compositional options as well - when a subject comes close to filling a frame it leaves one with almost no compositional options - just getting all parts of the animal in the frame tends to become the dominant thought in the field).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Good bear image! I agree with Brad that a little space (I would want it right and bottom) would give some breathing room. I like his wary, in-the-camera stare. The cross-hatch pattern on the oof background rock above his shoulders puzzles me. It looks like a man made element, like perhaps some old wire fencing wrapped around a rock???
