Canon EOS REBEL T2i
EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS
1/28/2011 – 5:39:30 PM
Aperture priority
f/5.6
ISO 400
Focal length 70.0 mm
Tripod
My backyard in Northeast Florida
CR file with PSE9 processing, raised the blacks, did some noise removal, that's it

Questions, especially for those of you who didn't like the first one: I rotated this to be right-side up. Do you like that better? Some of you said the tree trunks distracted you in the other image; in this one I focused on the tree trunks so that they are the image. Does that work for you, or no? Don't worry, I'll go on to something else after this one. But I really do like reflections.

Feedback on the above and anything else would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Barbara, I like this one a lot. I think the fact the brightness and "clarity" of the trunks is not as high as the other one, makes this one work in a better way. It looks like a painting... nice job!

Barbara, I find reflections to be fascinating but extremely challenging. I like the abstract feel of the leaves and the texture of the ripples on the water, but the tree trunks detract from the abstraction. I recently saw a photo exhibition near Baltimore where all of the shots were completely abstract because of highly agitated water surfaces. A number of those shots were awesome. Me, I hope to get something "interesting" in a reflection abstract one of these days. Keep trying!

Hi Barbara! I agree with Edward - this is very much like a painting. In fact I thought it was from the thumbnail. The comp, lighting and ripples make for a very pleasing affect. Nice job!

This is a wall hanger for sure. I too like the painterly feel of this. The texture and position of the colors make this one shine.

Barbara, it was a great idea to combine reflexion and rotation! I like the impressionistic character.

Yeah, feels more coherent for me. No distractions in this one.

I didn't see the first one, but this works great for me. Right side up and upside down, doesn't matter, I think it would be fine either way. Beautiful color. One of your better inages IMO. Well done.

Very painterly Barbara, which I always love. And I'm a sucker for reflections, they are beautiful and this is an excellent example. Colors are just perfect. One very, very minor nit I don't think anyone else mentioned, but there appears to be a small reflection of a green plant in the upper right corner (like an upside down wishbone)--that's a small distraction to my eye, just thought I'd point it out. :toast:

Barbara: I think this is terrific. The water movement makes the shot. I might crop from the bottom to 4:5 to get rid of the bright part of the trunk but this works well as is. Good call on rotating it upright. >=))>

I thought it was a painting... I love reflections and this one is gorgeous. In my opinion it doesn't matter if this is upside down or right side up.
