Dr Seuss' Truffula Trees

after long time trying to photograph the sea palms at Bean Hollow Beach... the conditions were finally there. Low tide to be able to reach the location, and side lighting during sunset... it almost feel like a pre-historical image to me.

When trying to come up with a title, I had "Sea Palms at Sunset" but my daughter once she saw it she just said it looks like "Dr Seuss' Truffula Trees"... the reason for the alternative title.

love the hint of color in the clouds echoing the light on the trees themselves. the lower right corner feels empty to me, and at odds with the warm feel the rest of the image conveys. A lovely image though. Nicely done

Dang Mr…. take us back a hundred million years or so. I’m expecting to see trilobites or horseshoe crabs coming out of the water.

This is an interesting and beautiful photo. I agree that the comp and light are good. Your persistence really paid off and the Truffula Trees make this pic unique.

I like it.

This is really neat Edward. Your composition is excellent, as is your processing skill. A very pretty image.

Cool subject, well framed. I might try to even the brightness in the sky and see if I could eliminate the halos around the sea palms in the ULC. :toast:

Love the Truffula tree idea. It's hard to go wrong with a Seuss reference. I like the forest-like quality to this and the nice light.

Yeah, just right are the conditions for this! I've tried it before, and got nothing. You had the right idea here. It does look prehistoric to me. Nice light, and touch of misty sea spray in the air. Beautiful!

Super foreground in this Edward, certainly plenty to look at. Excellent detail and the comp is spot on.
